Tidio alternative: what to choose instead of Tidio and Lyro

People look for a Tidio alternative for different reasons: costs that grow with conversations, a need for more seats or integrations, or an AI agent that does more than answer support questions. Which tool fits depends on which of those applies to you.

Tidio is a good product for small businesses and online shops, and for many of them it is the right choice. This page explains how Tidio and its AI agent Lyro work and are priced, compares the main alternatives fairly, including Life Inside (which we make), and says who should stay. Facts were checked on 27 October 2026. More comparisons: all alternatives.

Tidio alternatives at a glance

Crisp

Best for: Teams that want a low-cost shared inbox with an AI agent, built in Europe

Crisp, built in France, offers live chat, a shared inbox and Hugo, its AI agent. Plans are priced per workspace, not per seat, and paid plans include AI credits. Crisp's own estimate is about $0.05 to $0.10 per AI-handled conversation; its free plan has 2 seats but no AI credits.

Intercom

Best for: Growing support teams that need a full helpdesk and a strong AI agent

Intercom combines a Messenger, shared inbox, ticketing and help centre with Fin, its AI agent, at $0.99 per outcome plus helpdesk seats at the time of writing (October 2026). There is a 14-day free trial. Read our Intercom alternative page for when it fits.

Gorgias

Best for: Shopify stores with high support volume

Gorgias is a helpdesk built for e-commerce and Shopify, priced by ticket volume and never per agent. Its AI Agent is included on every plan and billed per automated interaction. It also works with BigCommerce, Magento and WooCommerce.

tawk.to

Best for: Very small budgets that need live chat at no cost

tawk.to gives its live chat away for free. You pay only for extras, such as removing its branding, hiring live agents by the hour or AI Assist, which answers from your knowledge base. A sensible starting point when budget is the main constraint.

HubSpot

Best for: Teams that already use HubSpot as their CRM

HubSpot's live chat and chatbot builder start free, and conversations land in a shared inbox in the CRM. On Professional and Enterprise, its AI customer agent costs $0.50 per resolution in HubSpot Credits at the time of writing (October 2026).

Life Inside

Best for: Teams that want an AI agent for pre-sales, recruitment and guidance, with real video

The AI Chat Agent answers from your approved content in 60+ languages, guides visitors to the next step and can show interactive video of real people in the same window. AgentLoop shows what visitors asked and pushes leads to HubSpot and Salesforce. Not a support inbox: no tickets, no live takeover.

How Tidio and Lyro work

Tidio sells three products that you can buy alone or together: Customer Service (live chat and ticketing), Lyro AI Agent and Flows, its rule-based automations. Plans run from Free through Starter and Growth to Plus and Premium. There is a 7-day free trial with no card.

Each product has its own meter. Customer Service counts billable conversations, meaning conversations where a human on your team replies. Lyro counts AI conversations: every account gets 50 free, and after that you buy a monthly quota. Flows counts visitors reached. Premium adds pay-per-resolution billing and a guaranteed 50% Lyro resolution rate. Lyro answers in 48 languages, and Lyro Connect lets it work with Zendesk, Intercom or Salesforce on Plus and Premium.

Why teams look for Tidio alternatives

  • Three meters to plan for. Human conversations, AI conversations and Flows visitors are priced separately, so model your volumes before you scale.
  • Team size. Self-serve plans allow up to 10 seats; more needs the Plus plan.
  • A different job. Tidio is built mainly around customer service and online stores. B2B pre-sales, recruitment or guidance on complex offers may need a different kind of agent.
  • Insight, not just answers. Some teams want to see what visitors ask, where they drop off and which leads appear, in one place.
  • Real people. Some want recorded video of employees or customers inside the conversation.

Looking for a Lyro alternative?

If you are happy with your inbox and only want a different AI agent, compare how each one is billed and what it answers from:

  • Fin (Intercom): $0.99 per outcome at the time of writing, and it can run on other helpdesks.
  • Hugo (Crisp): included AI credits on paid plans, with usage drawn from them.
  • Gorgias AI Agent: included on every plan and billed per automated interaction, inside an e-commerce helpdesk.
  • HubSpot AI customer agent: $0.50 per resolution in HubSpot Credits at the time of writing.
  • Life Inside AI Chat Agent: a monthly plan where text chat is fair use rather than charged per conversation. It answers only from content you approve, and gaps show up in AgentLoop with suggested fixes. See pricing.

Who should stay on Tidio

Stay if you run a small shop or service business, your team answers customers in a shared inbox, and Lyro handles your common questions well. The free plan, the Shopify and WooCommerce features and the low entry price are hard to beat for that job. Switching only pays off if you need something Tidio is not built for.

Where Life Inside fits instead

Life Inside suits teams whose website has to answer real questions before people buy, apply or book. The agent answers from your website, documents and FAQs, guides visitors to a meeting, the right job or the right page, and presents interactive video of your employees or customers when it helps. Lyko uses interactive video to connect buyers with experts, and SATS uses employee video for candidates.

It is not a replacement for a support inbox: there are no tickets and no live takeover, and when a question needs a human, the agent points to the right contact or booking link. Some teams will want both tools. Data is hosted in the EU, and the widget sets no cookies.

Installing it is one JavaScript snippet in your site footer, on WordPress, Shopify or any site that allows custom code. Most agents go live within a day, and Life Inside builds the knowledge base with you. Book a demo to see it answer from your own content.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on what you need. For a low-cost shared inbox, look at Crisp. For a full helpdesk, look at Intercom. For a Shopify store with high volume, look at Gorgias. For free live chat, look at tawk.to or HubSpot. For an AI agent that handles pre-sales, recruitment and guidance with real video and conversation analytics, look at Life Inside.

Yes. tawk.to's live chat is free, with paid extras. HubSpot's live chat and chatbot builder can be started for free. Crisp has a free plan with 2 seats, though without AI credits.

Lyro is Tidio's AI agent. It answers from your support content in 48 languages and can run actions such as order updates. Every account gets 50 free Lyro conversations; after that you buy a monthly quota of AI conversations. The Premium plan offers pay-per-resolution billing.

If you want to keep a helpdesk, Intercom's Fin, Crisp's Hugo, Gorgias AI Agent and HubSpot's AI customer agent are the closest matches. Small shops and service businesses whose team answers customers in a shared inbox and whose common questions Lyro already handles well. For them the free plan and e-commerce features are good value.

For answering and guiding website visitors, yes. For live chat with your team taking over, or ticketing, no: Life Inside has no support inbox. When a question needs a human, the agent points the visitor to the right contact or booking link.
